  • Compact DiscList – Infomedia’s Solution to a new Industry

    Although the age of music CDs is slowly slipping by, it is fun to look back at an amazing product that Connert Media’s Infomedia created.

    The below Billboard article describes the product that too off for several years.

    Consumers Can Buy Listings Of 14,000 Albums – Infomedia Offers CDE Catalog Service

    NEW YORK  Data-research firm Infomedia is making its CD catalog trade service available to consumers.

    The Detroit-based company offers retailers 20 to 30-piece catalog packets for in-store sale and also sells it listings through direct mail trade ads, retail display posters, and word of mouth.  Until now, its publications were trade sources used sole by retailers and distributors.

    “We’ve found that a lot of consumers who collect CDs want reference material to help them collect more of them or just keep track of what they have,” says Infomedia manager Terry Pochert.  “They end up marking off the ones they either already have or want with a highlighter and then pass [the catalogs] around in swap clubs or whatever.” [1]

  • Israel v Hamas – Solutions?

    Stop the blame, stop the suspicion.

    Refugee Camps – Create UN monitor refugee camps just inside Israel border with facilities for women and children until conflict eases. This would include health, food, sanitation. Allow Palestinians to stay if they also work in the healthcare facilities and food services.

    UN Schools Have Israel Teachers – Allow sympathetic Israel citizens to enter Gaza and assist as teachers in the UN school facilities. These teachers can serve as assistant instructors but also monitor the school and neighboring buildings for weapon storage. Having Israel people embedded in these school would provide added incentive for these facilities not to be bombed.

    Off Site Forums – Create young adult forums right here in the United States each with 10 Palestinians and 10 Israelees. Pay for full travel, food and hotel. For 30 days, let them scream, talk and stare at each other. After 30 days, send them safely back. Even if nothing comes of this, it puts a “face” on the problem. Do this over the next 10-20 years over and over again.

    Hotlinking

    It is common for some folks to “steal” images from a developer’s website and display on their own website.  This is a process called “hotlinking”[2].  Yes, it is pretty much stealing.  Just because it is on the Internet, doesn’t mean you can use it.

    If you have access to your .htaccess file, the following code may help solve the problem on your website.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http(s)?://(www\.)?yourwebsite.com [NC]
    RewriteRule \.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif)$ – [NC,F,L]
