    Driving Across America

A friend of mine made the following post on Facebook recently about her drive from the east coast to San Diego. It’s an excellent example of a great attitude. “I just finished driving across this beautiful country of ours—what a thrill!! The majority of drivers were courteous and yet too many were driving dangerously aggressive. There’s a lot of stress in this world. I could feel the difference as I passed through cities and towns. On the other hand, there is also so much kindness out there too. Lots of smiles just waiting to be encouraged. What fun!” What I find interesting is that she acknowledged the stress and aggressive behavior but chose to focus on kindness and smiles. What a wonderful perspective!!

Another Individual Creating Shame for Our Democracy

“Michigan Elections Director Jonathan Brater Thursday sent an official letter informing Stanley Grot, a longtime Republican politician, that he is being relieved of duties related to elections administration while the criminal case against him plays out.” 1

“Stanley Grot, the clerk of Shelby Township, and Clifford Frost, who lost two races in recent years against Democratic candidates, were accused of turning in the phony certificates confirming they were legitimate electors despite Joe Biden and Kamala Harris received 154,000 more votes than the former president.

Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat, said all 16 individuals will face eight criminal charges, including two counts of forgery, which is a 14-year felony. The group also includes Republican National Committeewoman Kathy Berden and Meshawn Maddock, former co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party.” 2

ExperFlyer.com – Find that aisle or window seat. A great website that notifies you when folks on your schedule flight change seats or cancel their trips leaving their previously selected seat open. If you have that option on your ticket, you then might be able to grab that open seat. The FREE version has lots of options. If you are serious, you can pay for the PRO version. A neat service.

Water – Depending on the airline, sometimes buying water on the flight is cheaper than purchasing it in the concourse. First check with the airline but usually a bottle of water purchased directly on the airline from the flight attendants is at least a buck cheaper.

Don’t Wear Shorts – Wear long pants and clothing that is loose and comfortable. It has been recommended to wear mostly cotton or fabrics that are less prone to fire should you ever need to exit the plane in an emergency. A side benefit is that long pants are a bit more sanitary keeping bare skin from rubbing against the various seats.

Frozen Water – Yes, you can carry completely frozen water through security. The water MUST be completely frozen. Some medications require refrigeration. When you carry such medications, make sure the ice packs are COMPLETELY frozen as well.
