“Martin Scorsese’s new gangster film epic, “The Irishman” would seem to be a slam-dunk winner. It has an all-star cast, featuring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. It showcases state-of-the-art special effects which have “de-aged” De Niro and Pacino. And Scorsese is widely regarded as one of the best directors in Hollywood. But the film has one big problem. The film story line is not true.” – Vince Wade

Prisoner of War: The Story of White Boy Rick and the War on Drugs is the result of several years of extensive research by Vince Wade. He did interviews with Rick Wershe and others. He traveled to Detroit several times and spent days researching and copying court records, trial transcripts and police investigative files. He filed numerous Freedom of Information Act requests with federal and state law enforcement for documents related to Richard J. Wershe, Jr. The history of the War on Drugs is recounted and decades of failed policy initiatives, such as First Lady Nancy Reagan’s ludicrous Just Say No campaign, are noted.

It’s all in a book Vince Wade wrote and hope you will find interesting, one you will recommend to your friends.

    Who Cares?

Sunday’s 90th Academy Awards took place a little later in the year than previous editions because of the Winter Olympics in South Korea. While the Oscars remain the most prestigious film awards in the world, it seems the ceremony has lost a little of its appeal with the average American over the past few years. Annual surveys conducted by researcher YouGov suggest that lately the share of respondents who don’t follow the awards closely at all has risen to almost 60 percent, an increase by 15 points compared to 2014.
