Hundreds of folks always ask about an alternative to the TREE command in Windows using the CMD function. Clunky and visually out-of-date.
Try using Jam Software’s TreeSize. They have a free version which creates stunning graphical representations of your tree structures. You may find the interface a bit daunting at first, but once you see through the various options, you’ll find a great FILE->EXPORT command which creates wonderful PDF output.
You may remember that a young woman was recently abducted from a Target parking lot in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City Her body was discovered many miles away in Missouri. They were able to locate her by the sequence of cell phone towers that picked up her cell phone location.
She had not attempted to dial out, but when her family was trying to call her the towers could sense her phone. Sadly, the authorities were not able to reach her in time. However, they were able to locate her body which was in an area where they never would have searched without the cell phone tower information.
The cell phone ‘locator’ can be either set on:
E911′ … in which case you must dial out to be located;
or it can be set to be on all the time . ‘Location on’
There is NO higher battery usage from having it on all of the time.
With it on all the time you can be located by emergency services through the police if you fail to respond (sick, injured or worse). I found that on my phone location’ was not on.
I turned it on so my phone can be traced.
ALL cell phones have this feature. It’s called Location.
It’s under the: Settings tool. (on my phone it’s under Settings, System, Location).
Once you turn this on, THEN your phone is traceable (select ‘Location On’ instead of ‘E911 Only’).
To stay safe, everyone needs to check their phone and turn this on!!!
Please pass the word to everyone you know. Adding a PS here. The idea of using your keys by your bedside or in your hand as an alarm in the event of trouble is an excellent idea. The keys will sound the horn on your car if you use the panic mode. This will work if the car is in the garage or in the driveway. That was sent to me recently.
This is some good information that everybody should have.
In a society where unconscious bias, microaggressions, institutionalized racism, and systemic injustices are so deeply ingrained, healing is an ongoing process. When conflict and division are everyday realities, our instincts tell us to close ranks, to find the safety of those like us, and to blame others. This book profoundly shows that in order to have the difficult conversations required for working toward racial justice, inner work is essential. Through the practice of embodied mindfulness–paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in an open, nonjudgmental way–we increase our emotional resilience, recognize our own biases, and become less reactive when triggered.
As Sharon Salzberg, New York Times-bestselling author of Real Happiness writes, “Rhonda Magee is a significant new voice I’ve wanted to hear for a long time—a voice both unabashedly powerful and deeply loving in looking at race and racism.” Magee shows that embodied mindfulness calms our fears and helps us to exercise self-compassion. These practices help us to slow down and reflect on microaggressions–to hold them with some objectivity and distance–rather than bury unpleasant experiences so they have a cumulative effect over time. Magee helps us develop the capacity to address the fears and anxieties that would otherwise lead us to re-create patterns of separation and division.
It is only by healing from injustices and dissolving our personal barriers to connection that we develop the ability to view others with compassion and to live in community with people of vastly different backgrounds and viewpoints. Incorporating mindfulness exercises, research, and Magee’s hard-won insights, The Inner Work of Racial Justice offers a road map to a more peaceful world.
I’ve been thinking about you ever since the news a few days ago.
Every time I try to find the words to talk about this to you, they jumble all together, swelling up and getting stuck in my throat. Tears quickly well up in my eyes, and all I can manage is a barely audible, “I’m sorry.”” 1
“McMinn County Board of Education members claim they banned “Maus” due to “rough, objectionable language” and a depiction of nudity. But when officials start making it harder for students to learn about injustices like antisemitism, objections about language and sex are almost always just an authoritarian excuse to sanitize history, further marginalize already oppressed populations, and ultimately seize power at any cost.”
