On May 26, 2009 the California Supreme Court issued a ruling upholding the constitutionality of Prop 8 which bans gay marriages in the state. Soulforce of Colorado held a nonviolent direct action that same afternoon to protest the ruling and also remind Colorado that marriage equality does not exist here either. The direct action had two parts. First, there was a traditional picket along Colfax in front of the Webb Administration Building. Second Soulforce volunteers staged a sit-in at the clerk and recorder’s office where marriage licenses are issued.

For years now I have been saying that for every negative thing that happens there is an equal positive force if you can only find it. Well, today I read that GM is closing over a thousand of its dealerships. Tonight I went to a wedding rehearsal and the groom who is in the shoe repair business near NC State University told me that their shoe repair business is up 68%. He said that people are no longer throwing away their $110 shoes, they are having new heels put on and having their shoes resoled. That is the most refreshing news that I have heard in months. OK, it is a stretch from many thousands of people involved with GM losing their jobs and one fellow saying their little business is doing so well. My point is that good things are happening all over America but you will never read about them in our newspaper and you will never hear about them on the evening news. As they say, good news doesn’t sell. God knows that America needs to get on the road to recovery and quickly so let it begin with this one little story and let it grow and grow.
Say Something Good
Hockey! Here I sit, happy as a duck at the Sportsplex parking lot who just found a car to sit under. First my old home town Detroit Redwings won their game in the last few seconds and then our North Carolina Hurricanes won their game in overtime as both teams advance in the Stanley Cup Playoff Series. So I’m not a staunch hockey fan and I’ve only seen the Wings play once when I was a young man. So this could turn out like Michigan playing UNC recently in basketball… A win-win situation for me. May God bless our troops and may God bless all America as we turn the corner to a bright, prosperous future.

Pixabay.com We’ve known for nearly a century that the better you treat people, the harder they’ll work. It’s a pretty straightforward relationship. This being the case, it seems logical to conclude that the job of every team leader, supervisor, manager and executive should be to treat their employees as well as possible so they become excited about coming to work and applying their best efforts toward performing their jobs every day. Unfortunately it turns out that such behavior is the exception rather than the rule.
